As the title suggests, what is the significance of dynamic simulation compared to steady-state process simulation? Is it widely used? Should HYSISI or ASPEN DYNAMICS be used primarily?
Steady-state simulation is widely used, so there’s no need to go into detail about it. Dynamic simulation can be considered as a collection of infinite steady-state points; it can be employed for simulation training, control optimization, advanced control, and more. As for the software to be used, opinions vary from person to person
The general uses of dynamic simulation are as follows: 1. To understand the capacity and operability of a unit to withstand changes in dynamic loads. 2. To analyze its dynamic performance under start-up, shutdown, and external disturbance conditions, thereby providing a basis for the design of the unit and its control system. 3. To select the best control scheme among various options through simulation calculations. 4. To replace the actual unit in demonstrating dynamic responses to operations, thus developing trainers for training operators to achieve training objectives. 5. To serve as a substitute for teaching laboratory equipment, helping to develop students’ experimental and research skills. Hysys is primarily designed for use in the fields of oil and gas and hydrocarbon processing, and it exhibits strong stability when dealing with long processes
