My construction site has provided me with a material list, which includes items such as name, specifications, wall thickness, and description. For example: Pipe – 1/2” SCH80, 20, SMLS, BE, GB/T8163, HG20553(la). Which standard should I use when purchasing these materials for use in process pipelines? Could someone with professional knowledge explain this? Thank you
Both are standard specifications: one is the standard for seamless pipes, and the other is the series of standards for selecting the dimensions of seamless and welded steel pipes used in chemical piping systems; it’s best to consider both together
DN15 SCH80 20# GB/T8163 SMLS SH3405 SCH80
In this case, the materials shall comply with the GB/T 8163 standard, while the dimensions shall be in accordance with the HG standard. Never assume that the default standard for GB/T 8163 is the dimensional standard of GB/T 17395
It’s mainly because the outer diameters and wall thicknesses of these two standards are different; I’m not sure how to choose, and it’s really confusing
In this case, the materials shall comply with the GB/T 8163 standard, while the dimensions shall be in accordance with the HG standard. # Y* R’ I0 G/ Q” l – One must never assume this; the default standard per GB/T 8163 is the dimensional standards specified in GB/T 17395. In that case, the outer diameter and thickness of the pipes should be chosen according to the dimensions specified in HG20553, which are equivalent to the American standard dimensions

For this type of material, the GB/T 8163 standard applies, while the dimensions are determined according to the HG standard. 2 _1 j8 E0 [2 C' F5 {3 B6 x& t Under no circumstances should the default value be used; the default standard according to GB/T 8163 is the dimensional standards specified in GB/T 17395 – it’s a very professional standard! ! !
