Our company’s ammonia evaporation tower is an old-style bubble-type cast-iron ammonia evaporation tower that uses direct steam for ammonia evaporation. Due to its high energy consumption and large water production volume, we would like to convert it to use indirect steam for this purpose. However, the material of the tower poses high requirements for the modification techniques. Reply to 2# wsc39: Our company uses the AS desulfurization process, which consists of a volatile ammonia tower and a fixed ammonia tower; both towers have a diameter of three meters, with processing capacities of 30–50 m3/h and 10–30 m3/h respectively
The function of the ammonia evaporation towers in the AS process is to treat the liquid rich in ammonia and hydrogen sulfide; part of the liquid from which hydrogen sulfide has been removed in the deacidification tower enters these two ammonia evaporation towers for ammonia evaporation. In the fixed-ammonia tower, alkali solution is added to decompose fixed ammonium salts, resulting in ammonia-evaporation wastewater. After volatile ammonia is evaporated in the volatile-ammonia tower, it enters the washing system for further ammonia purification
