Our valve positioners are of the blowout flap type, and it’s really annoying – there’s always surge, and the valves can’t be fully closed. Does anyone have any good solutions? Please share them if you do, okay?
It wasn’t tuned properly. Adjust it again. Normal vibrations will not affect the proper operation of the locator! You can try switching to another one!
Use a locator from a different brand. I*usually use the Yamaki AVP300; it’s durable. If the valve cannot be closed properly, it is necessary to check whether it is due to a problem with the valve itself. If it’s a gas cut-off, the gas is stopped immediately. For pneumatic shut-off valves, connect them directly to a gas source with the rated pressure. See if it can be turned off completely. PS: Make sure to confirm the actions and processes beforehand, and obtain the work order before proceeding. Valve surge is a problem; the most troublesome aspect is that the valve itself can experience surge at certain opening degrees, so it’s necessary to try to avoid operating the process at those valve positions. If valve surging is caused by pipeline vibration, consider using a pneumatic positioner combined with an I/P converter, with the I/P converter installed in a location free from vibration.
