Why is a chlorine injection point installed before the reforming feed heat exchanger in the reforming unit? Why should the interface for chlorine injection be connected at the lowest point of the main pipeline?
The main concern is that chlorides tend to clump together at high temperatures, thereby blocking the pipelines; therefore, the point where chlorine is injected is usually located before the feed heat exchanger. Similarly, the connection pipes are placed below the main pipeline, and as far away as possible from the valve near the vessel wall, in order to prevent chlorides from blocking the chlorine injection line after the pump stops operating
Hello, I see that the chlorine injection port is located on the feed pipeline. Why is that?
The chlorine injection point is located before the heat exchanger because coking is likely to occur under high temperatures, which could block the chlorine injection pipeline; placing the injection point above the pipeline is also intended to prevent such blockages.
