Must the ethanolamine solvent tank be sealed with nitrogen?
They are usually sealed with nitrogen. Since diethanolamine has been oxidized to produce degradation products, using nitrogen sealing prevents oxygen from entering the tank and thus avoids oxidative degradation.
Seal with nitrogen to reduce contact with air and prevent oxidation. But nitrogen is not necessarily required; our ethanolamine storage tanks are connected to the acidic gas outlet pipeline, which allows for both liquid recovery and pressure filling.
It seems we don’t have a tank for this ethanolamine solvent; instead, diethanolamine stored in iron drums is pumped directly into the ethanolamine lean liquid tank. If it is found that the total sulfur content in the dry gas is above the specified limit, or if the levels of ethanolamine in the lean and rich liquids are abnormal, then diethanolamine is added to correct these conditions

The excessive total sulfur content in the dry gas may be due to abnormal conditions in the ethanolamine lean and rich streams; it could also be caused by poor regeneration efficiency or a high sulfur content in the raw materials. The ethanolamine storage tank is connected to the acidic gas outlet pipeline, which is part of its design. Moreover, since the solvent tank operates at atmospheric pressure, there is no need for pressure connection

The design specifications require nitrogen sealing, but in practice, it is as mentioned on the 4th floor.
