On March 14, 2011, seven major private enterprises in China – Yili Resources Group, China Panhai Group, Dalian Wanda Group, Sichuan Hongda Group, Zhejiang Transfar Group, Shanghai Junyao Group, and Inner Mongolia Yili Energy Co., Ltd. – held a signing ceremony in Beijing to establish a joint venture focused on green clean energy, with the aim of building a demonstration site for such energy sources in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. Through the introduction of new technologies from countries such as the United States and Japan, as well as through independent research and development, the Green Clean Energy Demonstration Base has invested in the construction of six green clean energy projects of the \"six 1000,000-ton\" type: 1 million tons per year of coal-based ethylene glycol, 1 million tons per year of coal-based ethanol, 1 million tons per year of mixed low-carbon alcohols, 1 million tons per year of biomass fuels, 1 million tons per year of coal-based urea, and 1,000 square kilometers of desert carbon sequestration forests. In 2011, plans were in place to start construction of a 1 million-ton coal-based ethylene glycol plant and a 1 million-ton coal-based urea plant, as well as to introduce U.S. CO2-to-algae technology for the development of carbon sequestration forests covering 1,000 square kilometers. It is reported that the joint investment in clean energy will pursue a \"go global\" strategy in the next phase, with the goal of creating a \"joint fleet\" of clean energy enterprises owned by private companies in China. To this end, a \"Clean Energy New Materials Technology Center\" will also be established in collaboration with reputable research institutions to provide scientific and technological support for the development of the clean energy industry.
