Questions 1–30 in the \"FAQ\" section of the new pressure vessel regulations state that the coils \"inside\" the vessel are the main pressure-bearing components. There is a question: 1. Are the coils outside the vessel also the main pressure-bearing components? 2. Is the semi-tube jacket outside the container also the main pressure-bearing component?
In my opinion, it should be determined based on the specific circumstances. For example, in most cases, coils or semi-coils are used to introduce steam or other substances to heat or provide heat retention for equipment, and their pressure is generally greater than 0.1 MPa. According to the requirements of fixed pressure regulations, when P.V ≥ 2.5 MPa·L, such coils or semi-coils are classified as Category I and are subject to supervision and inspection under these regulations. At this point, the coil or the semi-tube jacket should be the main pressure-bearing components.
In my opinion, if it falls under that category of stress, it should be considered a component subject to significant stress, and non-supervised inspection can be applied accordingly
It should not be considered a major pressure-bearing element outside the container, as it poses little risk even if something goes wrong with it. It’s different inside a container; if a problem occurs, it can cause the pressure inside the container to rise or the substances contained therein to mix, leading to serious hazards.
