During the parking process, if the steam temperature does not reach the required level, is it necessary to depolarize when the temperature is below 75 degrees, or should depolarization be carried out only after there is no more free chlorine present? # + +
Reply to 2# LuC182: Do you start polarization once all the cells in your battery bank have overflowed?
Depolarization occurs after the free chlorine replacement is satisfactory.

Let me explain again what the original poster meant: The electrolytic cell requires that the polarization current be turned off when the temperature reaches 75 degrees. In the absence of steam, the temperature drops too rapidly; so, if there is still free chlorine present when the temperature reaches 75 degrees, should the polarization current be turned off or turned on? One more thing: chlorine can be produced when the temperature drops to around 73 degrees
During the shutdown of a wood electrolyzer, it is necessary to wait until there is no free chlorine present and the temperature drops to 45 degrees Celsius before the polarization current can be removed.
I would like to ask: if polarization is not applied during a 4-hour parking cycle, will the coating suffer severe corrosion? The temperature is around 70-73 degrees
What should be done if the parking current drops to 3KA and polarization is activated automatically, with no overflow occurring at that time? Especially emergency stop.
1. After shutdown, the brine on the anode side must be replaced; at this point the electrolyzer begins to cool down (but polarization is activated automatically once the current drops to 3 KA). Polarization can be stopped when the cell temperature is below 40 degrees and the free chlorine level is zero. At the same time, the circulation of brine and caustic soda should be halted. 2. Polarization must be activated during shutdown; otherwise, it causes significant damage to the coating on the electrode plates. 3. Polarization should be applied as long as the electrolyzer’s temperature is above 40 degrees.
The operation of Beihua Machinery is a bit different: after shutting down the machine, saltwater and alkaline solution are circulated for half an hour to an hour, after which polarization and liquid discharge are stopped. Therefore, this issue is related to the electrolyzer manufacturers.
