According to China’s \"Hygienic Standards for the Use of Food Additives\" (GB2760-1996), a total of 8 synthetic food colors are permitted for use in China: amaranth red, carmine, erythrosine, ponceau, lemon yellow, sunset yellow, indigo, and brilliant blue
