How to repair damaged areas in cast iron pressure components?
It would be good to have pictures; different areas suffer different types of damage, and thus the treatment methods vary

Don’t worry; with the versatile 777 around, welding is no longer a big problem. We have welded quite a few. It’s a cast-iron cutting disc made in Japan; we have also welded it. The welding rod needs to be kept warm during drying, and castings also require heat retention. Heat retention is necessary during welding as well, with a slow cooling process after welding.

OP, cast iron is not easy to weld well. Ordinary cast iron electrodes (such as Z308) require preheating before welding, and slow cooling after welding is necessary. But it is still prone to deformation. The universal product I’m referring to is a brand of welding material imported from abroad, and 777 is one of the grades offered by this brand. Universal 777 is a welding rod designed specifically for welding cast iron. Its feature is that it can be welded directly without preheating. Cracks definitely won’t appear. Now this type of welding material can be sold by the rod. It’s just a bit more expensive. Feel free to contact me if you need anything. Furthermore, the threaded holes are fine. But when welding, pay attention to the welding angle. It may need to be expanded into a conical pit when necessary.
