The “One Question per Day” activity within the process design section has been carried out quite well, under the leadership of the super moderator and the moderators in charge, as well as through the joint efforts of all the moderators; it has managed to attract active participation from a large number of users. At present, there are several issues I would like to discuss with everyone: 1. Regarding the scoring of answers, given the high number of participants in this section’s “Question of the Day” activity, do you think scores should be given to everyone who takes part? I also took a look at the activities in other sections; some of them involve scoring the top few participants. Should we adopt this approach as well? Rating is indeed a tedious task, but seeing so many friends actively participating, it would feel wrong not to provide ratings. 2. Regarding the creation of the “One Question per Day” exercises, when the original moderator left, as a manager who joined this team early on, it was my duty to take on this responsibility. Now our management team is fairly stable, so perhaps we could consider having each moderator participate, with them taking turns to come up with questions on a weekly basis. 3. Regarding the content of “One Question per Day,” do anyone have any better suggestions? A campaign to collect questions has been launched, but the results have not been very good.
1. Regarding Recommendation 1, try to assign scores whenever possible; the person who created the question is responsible for scoring, with other moderators able to provide additional feedback. Everyone can see your efforts. I will also significantly increase the additional rewards for moderators who actively carry out activities. Initially, it is considered to double the charm value. When applying for the bonus, please let me know how many Daily Questions and Weekly Topics were completed. 2. First of all, I express my approval. The moderator jintchinssen is responsible for gathering 6 moderators to discuss this together; it can be done within the group, or via QQ or text messages. It would be appreciated if you could go to the trouble of sending an internal message to the other 5 moderators to ask them to leave a comment ; 3. For the daily tip, you can also choose a good topic from Haiyou and use it after editing it. Another measure is to increase the rewards for those who come up with a question each day, and clear reward standards can be established. Additionally, considering searching for and creating a question bank is an option. Those in charge of the question bank can apply for a reward to me separately. For example, for completing a question bank of 365 questions, I can award points in terms of reputation, charm, wealth, and so on. The amount can reach several months’ worth of the moderator’s salary and bonuses, etc.
After observing over this period of time, I’ve found that most SeaFriends are satisfied with simply coming to answer the daily question and logging in in order to earn enough wealth. Fortunately, it can be used when downloading materials. As for similar solicitation campaigns we carry out, few marine enthusiasts pay attention to them or participate. This phenomenon is quite normal. So it’s not very meaningful if we place our hopes on the general sailing community. Instead, we should focus on nurturing a small number of active forum members, encouraging them to provide ratings regularly as well as fostering emotional connections. It’s very difficult to cultivate a group of loyal and enthusiastic marine enthusiasts
It’s still the requirement to give ratings for those in the top 50, and it’s indeed quite stressful, as we’re all working and don’t have much time to keep rating. There are six moderators in our group, one for each day from Monday to Sunday; I’m responsible for Saturday and Sunday. After posting something, everyone is expected to rate those who are in the top 50 first, while for those outside that range, it depends on the moderators’ discretion. This way, everyone will have enough time, and management should become much easier
I’ve been observing recently, and it’s undeniable that there is a very high level of participation in the daily questions activity in our process design area. A key reason for this is that participants can earn points simply by taking part. I think it’s important to assign scores wherever possible, but this requires the diligent cooperation of several moderators who work together effectively and divide tasks reasonably. Recently, I usually participate in scoring. For the “Question of the Day,” questions can be taken in turns, and I can also be involved in creating those questions. However, since I’m not majoring in chemical engineering design, I’m not very familiar with question banks. I hope that the six moderators can find a question bank that is widely regarded as good; one moderator could be responsible for creating questions and handling the scoring over a period of 10 days or a month. If the moderator in charge is unable to carry out their duties on that day or during that period, it’s possible to swap roles with another moderator. In my opinion, it’s important to maintain the practice of one question per day, as this is key to increasing participation and expanding the influence of our community.
1. Indeed, the scoring workload for the “One Question per Day” feature is extremely heavy! Therefore, I think the scoring system could involve rating the top 50 users who actively participated in answering questions, while randomly selecting some users from those who answered later to be rated. This way, it encourages active participation without leaving those who didn’t get a score completely ignored! Of course, in that case it is recommended to increase the score allocation appropriately, especially for randomly selected users, so as to ensure that there is a rating for each reply on each page! 2. Indeed, I also strongly agree that the task of creating \"one question per day\" should be carried out on a rotating basis by the various moderators in the forum. It is recommended to use a weekly timeframe for this, as this will allow each moderator to actively participate in creating questions and also help them become familiar with the management aspects related to this task. 3. Since the launch of the daily question submission campaign, considerable progress has indeed been made, but overall, the enthusiasm of marine enthusiasts to participate is not high, and the volume of questions available is not satisfactory. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone actively participate and help to promote this initiative!
First of all, I want to say thank you to moderator ziyouruifeng for all their hard work! Indeed, creating and grading a question every day is a huge amount of work in our community; it’s understandable that it would be quite demanding to handle it by just one person. By participating in the daily question, netizens can earn points while also reviewing and learning professional knowledge; therefore, I think it’s best to assign scores whenever possible. As for how to carry out this activity, perhaps we could proceed in this way (as a starting point): This task can be divided into two parts: (1) creating questions, and (2) assigning points ; (1) Creating questions: The sources of questions can be the six moderators as well as submissions from various sections. To avoid repetition, it is best to assign one (or more) moderators to be in charge of this task. (2) The amount of work required for adding points is also substantial; I’ve observed over these past few days that there are more than 100 such tasks per day. Therefore, it would be best if all six moderators were to handle them each day – whoever has time should do the evaluations, which might make things easier. If evaluating by oneself is indeed a bit tedious, and the internet speed can be slow at times (my internet speed is slow sometimes, which is really frustrating), many hands make light work. Let’s see if there are any good ideas left.
Overall, the management in our region is proactive; just take a look. I arrived late and found that all the posts had already been read by other colleagues, leaving basically no management tasks to carry out. A reasonable and effective division of labor is necessary, but it is not necessarily the ultimate solution. As long as our colleagues in the management team are proactive, pay more attention in their spare time from work and life, and don’t care too much about gains and losses. Everyone can see your positive performance. What matters is the atmosphere, as it can influence many surfers. For example, in terms of engineering-related posts, we simply can’t keep up with the number of posts related to processes – why is that? This is because the colleagues in the process division have created a positive atmosphere, which has been recognized by many users of this forum (of course, the varying scope of knowledge covered in different sections also plays a role). After the atmosphere comes the ability to solve problems; we still have too few technical experts. Technical experts like those who are “wise and insightful” are even rarer.
Reply to 1# ziyouruifeng: The “One Question per Day” feature is currently very popular, with well over a hundred replies for each post. It greatly increases the workload of management. To address this situation, the method I used in the production area was as follows: one moderator took turns being in charge on a daily basis, with scoring mainly carried out by the moderator who created the questions, while other moderators assisted in this process. If it is not possible to create questions for some reason, the responsible moderator must be notified in advance so that they can arrange for questions to be created. If there is still no question after 9 o’clock that day, the responsible moderator will provide one temporarily. In response to buildings with more than 50 floors, the production and technology department has always applied full scoring to boost Haiyou’s enthusiasm for participation. At the beginning of the month, the question setter compiles the questions from the previous month, provides detailed explanations for the answers, and posts them in the daily question summary thread.
Please ask the moderator in charge to arrange a rotation plan for everyone when they have time. I might go abroad in mid-to-late April, and I won’t be able to access the internet. I’ll take care of the first week of April first.
