A large amount of reflux increases energy consumption, while less reflux results in lower energy use. Is it possible to avoid using reflux altogether? What is the role of backflow in the entire system?
I think it is to recycle the acidic water separated from the tower top reflux tank; it’s similar whether it goes into the tower or into the large wastewater tank.
