Due to the constant discrepancies in the readings from the salt belt scale, there are differences between production and the warehouse regarding the amount of salt used. After discussion, it has been decided to use the inventory levels to estimate consumption and thereby identify any deviations in usage. It is possible to measure the volume of solid salt; please discuss how to convert this into an equivalent weight of salt. (Solid salts: fine salt and coarse salt), , -

Hehe, the bulk density of salt varies greatly; different particle sizes result in different bulk densities – the larger the particles, the higher the bulk density, and vice versa. If lawsuits are filed over the accuracy of belt scales, then there’s no need for numerous estimates, and discrepancies only increase further. With all that salt there, can you shape it into a regular form and then measure its dimensions? The error is even greater. This only applies to the ending inventory levels; roughly that’s sufficient. If that doesn’t work, then use a scale – install a small scale in the salt storage area, and count each time a forklift loads a load; the total count will indicate the amount consumed. If the salt field is large enough, then each batch of salt is stored separately; the amount used up from one batch remains that amount. When the month changes, just replenish it once this batch of salt is used up. Workshops and warehouses always find a balance over the course of a year. The quantities of items entering and leaving the warehouse will never match, so a system for accounting for gains and losses should be established, and finance department involvement is necessary for this.

It’s not meant to persuade the boss; it’s just to have clarity in my own mind. To use a simple analogy, consider the pile of salt in front of the belt scale: Party A believes it weighs 100 tons, Party B thinks it weighs 50 tons, while Party C claims it weighs 200 tons. In such a situation, negotiations are necessary. What serves as the basis for these negotiations? One can only make an approximate estimate based on volume and bulk density. As Director Du mentioned, going to the weighbridge for this purpose seems like overreacting; this is just my personal opinion – I’m not sure if it’s correct. I hope experienced colleagues can provide their feedback.

In that case, when calibrating a belt scale, it’s possible to get an approximate estimate – first determine the shape and calculate the volume, and then, once weighing is done, you can have a rough idea. I won’t try to show off my expertise here,,,
