What is the purpose of using soft water at around 50 degrees Celsius in the reciprocating cycle gas compressor used in the crude benzene hydrogenation refining process? Thank you all for paying attention to my question. Many of you have made very reasonable and professional points; indeed, soft water can be replaced by recycled water, as this helps prevent scaling. The role of soft water is to cool the cylinder body and the packing. A friend was right; the temperature requirement for soft water is to prevent the liquefiable components in the gas from liquefying and damaging the cylinder.
The main function of softened water in compressors is cooling. For reciprocating compressors, there are two key aspects related to softened water: one is the cooling water for the main packing at each stage; One is the cooling water jackets for cylinders at all levels. Generally, the cooling water temperature for the main filler should be lower, but the temperature of the softened water used in the cylinder should be 5°C higher than the temperature of the medium entering it; this is to prevent some of the medium from liquefying due to low temperatures, which could cause the cylinders to collide with each other.
