I heard that recently some companies (Shijiazhuang Jinshi Petrochemical Fertilizer and Yidong Coal Chemical Industry) have installed liquid oxygen pumps inside explosion-proof walls. Are there any relevant standard requirements? Those who are familiar with this matter, please advise
It seems there’s no standard for this yet; deciding to place it inside an explosion-proof wall is also a matter of personal judgment!
For safety, such a setting is also reasonable.
Section 4.6.23 of the **standard ‘Technical Regulations for Safety of Oxygen and Related Gases’ GB16912 stipulates: ‘Turbine oxygen compressors and multi-stage centrifugal liquid oxygen pumps used for transportation and distribution shall be equipped with protective walls (covers) to isolate them from the surrounding area.’ ”Its function is to prevent injury to the operators in the event of accidents such as fires or burns involving the aforementioned equipment. It’s not mandatory. It depends.

There are no mandatory standards; generally, explosion-proof walls are installed for oxygen delivery and air release valves

Liquid oxygen pumps generally have a separate insulation box, so there is no need to install an additional explosion-proof wall.

According to standard requirements, multi-stage centrifugal liquid oxygen pumps should be used; therefore, single-stage pumps are not necessary. Is the accident frequency higher for multi-stage centrifugal liquid oxygen pumps compared to those of single-stage type? Should the safety factor be lower?
Of the 4 sets I’ve seen, none have such a setup; all of them come equipped with explosion-proof walls for the vent valves.
