Introducing nitrogen into the compressor’s stuffing box serves a sealing purpose, but the sealing performance of the stuffing itself is already good enough. I would like to ask what exactly is meant by introducing nitrogen on the left and right sides
Nitrogen sealing is commonly used in compressors for toxic and flammable gases. Its function is to prevent gas leakage. PS: Pressurizers with high pressure heads, pressurizers installed indoors. Using only a packing seal is not sufficient; leaks will gradually occur over time as operation continues.
Reply to 1# cfzh56: The sealing performance of the filler is already good enough, but this does not guarantee no leakage over a long period of time. The main purpose of introducing nitrogen is to dilute the flammable gases (such as hydrogen) that leak from the filler.
Is it a dry gas seal? If so, it’s a form of sealing, and it’s very expensive. Moreover, the operating costs are very high; we have installed a system on the pneumatic press, and nitrogen supply must not be stopped even when the machine is shut down.

I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to, but our factory’s compressors also have a nitrogen pipeline. I asked the technician who was responsible for setting them up, and it seems that it’s used for purging before starting up the machine; I’m not sure if it’s because compressed gas is flammable.

Nitrogen serves to purge the combustible gases that leak from the packing seal, directly blowing the leaked gases into the vent pipeline.

The nitrogen pipeline is used to prevent air from entering the compressor, so that the oxygen level does not become too high.
