The specifications for gate valves provided by the design institute require double gates, but the manufacturer can only produce wedge-shaped double gates; parallel double gates are not feasible, and such valves cannot be manufactured for diameters smaller than DN80. Domestic manufacturers are capable of producing parallel double-gate valves.

This issue is actually a flaw in the design; the person who designed it must have been a bookworm or an experienced engineer without any practical experience, and they simply followed the theories outlined in books. Our company has used parallel gate valves in the past, but this design suffers from significant friction between the two sealing surfaces over long distances during the opening and closing of the valve, which makes it very prone to damage. From a sealing perspective, the elastic wedge-type single gate valve is the best option, but it is difficult to maintain. The most durable type is the wedge-type double gate valve, as it can automatically compensate for wear and is also easy to repair.
Our company’s gate valves are also single-plate wedge gate valves, used in the steam extraction pipelines of power plants. Parallel double-plate gate valves are used in high-temperature conditions. What I would like to know is: at what specific temperatures are these valves used, and is there a defined temperature range?
