In our mine, the gold content in the ore is low (0.8–1 g/t), but the sulfur content is high. With a grinding fineness of 70% at -200 mesh, and after using butyl xanthate and butylammonium black dye along with four stages of concentration, the gold concentrate yield is only around 12 g/t. We now want to increase the grade of the gold concentrate! Is there any good method for this? I’ve tried using lime to suppress sulfides, but the amount of tailings generated is extremely high! I would appreciate advice from those who are more experienced; thank you
I don’t know what your sulfur level is. If it’s above 50, it can still be sold for money; if it’s below 20, it can be treated with sodium hydroxide or kerosene. However, I’ve never done either of these things – it’s just theory, not practical experience

Reply to 1# ba*a: If the mineral contains high levels of sulfur and the gold is evenly distributed within pyrite, it is indeed impossible to increase the gold content. Adding lime to suppress sulfur means suppressing gold as well. Of course, if possible, you can use a combined flotation process: after floatation of the rough and refined ores, gold and sulfur are separated. This allows for the production of refined ore with a high gold content, which can be sold to cyanidation plants, while the sulfur-rich ore with lower gold content can be sold to roasting plants.
