What is the typical material used for the feed line of the atmospheric tower in four-column distillation? We used ordinary carbon steel, and in less than three years, the pipelines suffered severe erosion due to scouring, resulting in thinner wall thicknesses and leakage points.
Steel grade 20 will suffice; there’s no need for something more premium, as corrosion is not an issue~~
Reply to 1# lanseqinghai: It’s better to use stainless steel, as the pressure in the pressure tower is high and the temperature of the liquid inside it is also high. After passing through the level control valve in the pressure tower, a pressure reduction occurs; behind this valve, the vapor-liquid flow causes severe erosion of the pipes. I have encountered the same problem as well.
