SA537 is an ASTM-standard heat-treated carbon-silicon-manganese steel plate for pressure vessels. It is available in 3 grades: for thicknesses of 65 mm or less, the yield strength is 415 MPa and the tensile strength is 550 MPa; for thicknesses between 65–100 mm, the yield strength is 380 MPa and the tensile strength is 515 MPa; and for thicknesses between 100–150 mm, the yield strength is 315 MPa and the tensile strength is 485 MPa. The material is delivered in a quenched and tempered state. The low-temperature impact values are as follows: for 65 mm –68 degrees Celsius, ≥27 J; for 65–75 mm, –60 degrees Celsius, ≥20 J; and for 75–100 mm, –46 degrees Celsius, ≥20 J.
