The benzene washing tower has been in operation for over 6 years; its washing oil has been replaced twice. Currently, it experiences high resistance, with a value of over 4,000. What’s the reason? The specific gravity of the cleaning oil is 1.8–1.9; we suspect that the nozzle is clogged. It’s not clogged when it’s taken apart, but there are holes on the nozzle that appear to be caused by corrosion. Please offer some guidance from those who are more experienced

Reply to 1# Elephant without a nose: The main reason for the high resistance in benzene washing towers is the increase in tower pressure caused by fouling of the packing; it is therefore necessary to clean the packing. We used our proprietary cleaning technology (a two-step process using water-based cleaners) to clean the benzene washing towers at a certain coking plant, resulting in tower pressures that met the process requirements. The cleaning process took 10 days, was safe and efficient, and saved 60% on costs compared to replacing the packing. To date, the towers have been operating normally for 5 months, with evident improvements – the problem of high resistance affecting normal system operation has been successfully resolved.
