In the unit’s VCM distillation process, almost all equipment is connected to the monomer tank through balance pipes with a diameter of DN50; these include full coolers, product condensers, off-gas condensers, the three distillation columns, storage tanks for dichloroethane and high-boiling-point substances, as well as water separators and solid-alkali dryers. However, the pressures in these devices range from 5.6 kilograms to 1.8 kilograms. Could chlorinated vinyl gas flow in large quantities from devices with higher pressure to those with lower pressure? At a pressure difference of nearly 4 kilograms over a pipeline length of less than 1,000 meters, wouldn’t the flow rate be very high? What impact does this have on the entire distillation process?
That’s not a balance tube; it’s used for exhaust gas recovery when dealing with equipment, and it’s not supposed to be turned on under normal circumstances.

It should be called a balance pipe between devices, used to balance the pressure between them and prevent the presence of non-condensable gases (such as nitrogen) in the liquid; otherwise, gas slugging may occur.
Distillation is a stable process; sudden changes in flow rate can lead to loss of control over the operation. As long as the feed flow remains stable, it will not affect the entire distillation process. Besides, you can adjust the feed-to-re reflux ratio accordingly
