Currently, in refined oil storage facilities, there are roughly two ways in which car fuel dispensing pumps are installed: either on the loading island or within the tank area. Each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages. 1. The process pipelines from the tank farm to the fuel dispensing island are laid underground; the fuel dispensing pumps are located on the loading island, which allows for a lower pump head. However, the elevation of the fuel dispensing area is influenced by that of the tank farm, and it is necessary to ensure that the pump has sufficient NPSH ； 2. The process pipelines from the tank farm to the fuel dispensing island are laid overhead; the fuel dispensing pumps are located centrally in the tank farm, and the elevation of the fuel dispensing area is not constrained by that of the tank farm. The drawback is that when the oil transfer pump delivers another type of oil, other oil remains in the pipeline between the pump and the loading arm, resulting in oil mixing. For vapor-loaded loading, I believe that if the pump conditions permit, it is advisable to place the pump on the island, adopting a decentralized loading method with one pump and one flexible hose per unit. This process is relatively mature and is widely used. Moreover, even if individual pumps fail, it does not affect the overall oil supply to the tank farm. Pumps are centrally located outside the island; loading pumps can be divided into centralized loading pumps and decentralized loading pumps. In my opinion, centralized pumps are not very good, as the variable frequency control devices used with them do not have high reliability. Compared to island-mounted pumps, bulk loading pump pipes require more space and necessitate a separate pump shed.
