Can glass plate level gauges be used in high-pressure towers and tanks?
Yes, my hydrogenation unit uses glass plates for high-pressure applications.
Generally, values above 7–10 Kg/cm2·G are not used in my designs; on the other hand, I also avoid using fluid storage tanks that involve corrosive or toxic substances, as glass is indeed very fragile
Reply to 1# datangwei: Glass plate level gauges can be used; our company has them for hydrogenation processes at 160 kg capacity, as well as for hot and cold high-pressure applications; The glass plate level gauge can usually be set aside and not used; it’s a good option for adjusting the level when the regular gauge malfunctions or when there are suspicions of malfunction, so there’s no need to worry about inaccuracies ;
Reply to 1# datangwei: It’s better not to use it if possible, after all, glass is still a fragile material
Come in and learn*, check out what the experts have to say: lol
For the high-pressure hydrogenation sections I’ve seen, high-pressure glass plate level gauges and float level gauges are generally used; if false readings occur, it is possible to go to the site and check the glass plate level gauge to confirm the situation.
I will try to use magnetic float level gauges as much as possible
Reply to 8# ronga. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Although glass plates can display the liquid level accurately and objectively, for safety reasons, I recommend avoiding their use in high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
The Jerguoson glass plate level gauge is of American origin; it can handle high temperatures and pressures, and features self-locking protection for safe use. There are technical service providers in China, such as Shijiazhuang Cangli Energy – you can search for them and ask for more information
There is no issue with the liquid level in the glass panels themselves; it depends on whether the manufacturer produces them in accordance with standards. Of course, well-known brands are more expensive, but their quality is better.
