Notes for editing this section: Plastic welding is a method in which two or more surfaces of thermoplastic products are fused together into a single unit through heating, applying pressure, or other methods. 　　Reasons for fires and explosions during welding operations: 1. During welding and cutting operations, especially those involving gas cutting, the use of compressed air or oxygen streams causes sparks, molten droplets, and iron slag to fly everywhere (larger molten droplets and iron slag can reach distances of up to 5 meters from the point of operation). If flammable or explosive materials or gases are present in the working environment, fires and explosions may occur. 2. During high-altitude welding and cutting operations, flammable and explosive materials within the range where sparks can reach are not removed properly; workers discard welding rod stubs carelessly during the work, and no thorough check is carried out after the operation to ensure that no embers remain. 3. During gas welding and gas cutting operations, the acetylene generator was not placed as required, and the safety devices of the welding (cutting) torch, rubber hoses, and acetylene generator were not checked as specified before starting work. 4. There are deficiencies in the regulations regarding gas cylinders, as well as shortcomings in their storage, filling, transportation, and use; safety operating procedures are not being followed. 5. There were defects in the design and installation of pipes for acetylene, oxygen, etc., and the shortcomings were not identified and corrected in a timely manner during use. 6. When welding and repairing fuel tanks and pipelines, the appropriate measures were not taken as required. During replacement welding repairs, incomplete replacement occurs; when welding repairs are carried out under pressure without replacement, insufficient pressure leads to the introduction of external open flames, etc. 　　Precautionary measures to prevent fires and explosions during welding operations: 1. During welding and cutting tasks, all flammable and explosive materials within a radius of 10 meters around the work area must be removed. It is necessary to check whether there are any flammable liquids or gases in the ditches and sewers in the work area, as well as to ensure that no flammable or explosive substances may leak into these areas, thereby preventing accidents caused by welding slag or metal sparks. 2. When performing welding and cutting at heights, it is prohibited to discard welding rod stubs carelessly. The area below where such operations are carried out must be isolated, and a thorough inspection must be conducted after the work is completed; only after ensuring there are no fire hazards can one leave the site. 3. Cylinders that meet the relevant standards and regulatory requirements should be used, and strict safety procedures must be followed in their storage, transportation, and use. 4. Pipelines for transporting flammable gases and oxidizing gases shall be installed, used, and managed in accordance with regulations, and operators and inspectors shall receive specialized safety training. 5. When welding and repairing fuel tanks and pipelines, the welding method should be determined based on the actual conditions. When applying the displacement method, the displacement must be thorough, and the presence of flammable substances must be strictly controlled during the process. When using the pressure-bearing non-displacement method, a certain voltage level must be maintained as required. Its oxygen content should be strictly controlled in the workplace. Testing needs to be strengthened, close monitoring is required, and safety organizational measures must be in place.
