Dear experts, our company’s products are decolorized using activated carbon, and filtration is carried out with plate and frame filter presses. Filter paper is used for fast, medium, and slow filtration, but since there is still activated carbon in the liquid, no filter cake is formed. Later, oil-resistant paper was tried, but it became clogged very quickly, causing the machine to overheat. I would like to ask if anyone has encountered such a situation? Is there any solution? The activated carbon used is 300 mesh; I’ve also tried filter cloths, as well as various combinations of filter paper.

Try using a filter element; it might work
Is there a problem with the process selection? A metal filter can be used after the decolorization tank.
300 mesh – that’s pretty fine. I’m afraid it will be very difficult; couldn’t we lower the mesh number? For 100-mesh filtration, a plate filter with filter paper is sufficient, but it’s also very slow.
We have been using it for over a decade; there is a filter behind the decolorization tank, and the filter fabric is made of polypropylene – it works extremely well, with no need for activated carbon at all

Our process is basically the same as yours; we could consider using activated carbon with a lower mesh size. After filtration, there will be no activated carbon left, yet the decolorization effect remains good.

It can be filtered now, but it gets clogged easily, and gradually no fluid comes out anymore! I hope experts can give some advice!
