Pilot piston steam pressure reducers should be installed vertically on horizontal pipelines, with the valve tip perpendicular to the pipeline.
I understand what the original poster means – they are referring to placing the pressure reducing valve horizontally on a horizontal pipe. In terms of pressure reduction performance, this approach can indeed achieve the desired effect. However, considering the weight of the valve’s internal components such as the pilot valve, main valve, and piston, it accelerates wear and reduces the valve’s lifespan; therefore, it is better to install the valve vertically as much as possible.
