3 Problems with selection?

I see that there is usually an operation of taking the average of 3 values; so is there any situation in which using the average of 3 values would be appropriate?
Could you explain it more clearly? I’ve come across scenarios like 3 choose 2, taking the average of 2 numbers, etc. Are you referring to (a+b+c)/3?
For the 3-way selection module, when only two values are valid, there are three options: choose the highest, choose the lowest, or take the average – this needs to be determined during configuration. To calculate the average of three values, a averaging module should be used, not a 3-way selection module!
Generally, the reactor temperature should be averaged using 3; when the temperature is open-circuited or short-circuited, it does not affect the final average value obtained by this method, which helps to avoid low or high output values resulting from taking an average. However, in some reactor designs, the temperature is output as an average value. When the chain is extended to 3 points, 3 choose 2 is definitely used.
They are used in different contexts: 3 selection is generally used in chain operations, while 3 averaging is typically used for control purposes. That’s how it is here
