Glass tube thermometers and bimetallic thermometers?

I see that many devices are equipped with glass tube thermometers, but they can be easily damaged. I’m wondering if it would be appropriate to use bimetallic thermometers instead. I’d like to know if there is any difference between them, and in what situations each type is suitable
In experiments, glass tube thermometers are generally used, while in production sites bimetallic thermometers are typically employed; the difference is not significant. Glass tube thermometers are cheaper, and bimetallic ones can probably serve as a substitute for them. Relatively speaking, glass tube thermometers have higher accuracy than bimetallic thermometers.
