Every time the unit is started up, the propane and ethane stripping reflux tanks need to have their top vent valves opened in order to release the gases. The valves are closed when the gas smell becomes strong. I don’t know why these gases need to be released; does anyone know? Could you explain it?
There are roughly two reasons: 1. Failure to remove non-condensable gases, 2. Poor working conditions at the company, so they deliberately release them.
It’s the nitrogen that was filled in during the shutdown before starting up; when the machine is in operation, the temperature rises rapidly, causing the pressure to increase quickly. There is no liquid level visible in the reflux tank. Once all the non-condensable gas has been removed, the liquid level in the tank begins to rise gradually. It’s necessary to remove the gas from the tank more quickly on site; the appearance of an odor indicates that all the non-condensable gas has been eliminated.
One is the issue of non-condensable gases, and the other is that pressure relief is easy to handle; but why not use hidden discharge to the flare network? Is pollution not taken into consideration?
It is mainly to remove non-condensable gases and nitrogen; if they are not removed thoroughly, it has a significant impact on starting up the operation.
