It’s a disaster – the pressure test for the 12” buried pipeline, which is over two kilometers long, failed. There must be a quality defect in one of the welds. How can we determine where the defect is in such a long pipeline?

Method 1 was originally good, but unfortunately the rainy season has arrived now; the soil is generally moist, making it difficult to observe any obvious leakage. 2 is rather troublesome; there’s no other choice but to do it that way. But there are many frustrating factors here; firstly, the owners’ competence is quite low – they prioritize their own interests above everything else, rushing to get things up and running as quickly as possible, and eager to spend all their money at once. The quality of our contractors isn’t that great either; they’ll do anything to get the money needed for commissioning, leaving behind a bunch of outstanding items. They get 80-90% of the payment once commissioning is complete, and they really don’t care about the remaining balance. Moreover, many of the key managers on site are farmer-entrepreneurs, so they don’t consider the sustainable development of the company. Things like disruptions in the construction process have happened before; it’s just that bad luck led to problems this time. The future of owners, contractors, and workers is uncertain. Everyone’s gone mad; high profits are the only thing that matters now, and all sense of reason is ignored.
Ah, sometimes doing such things has the opposite effect. Before backfilling buried pipes, two things must be done first: first, pressurize the pipes; Second: Spark inspection (this still cannot be skipped; it’s not complicated to carry out). Only after backfilling in this way can one feel at ease. If the welder from that time can be found, it might be easier to locate the site. If nothing else works, resort to manual excavation.
