Dear experts, generally, according to the manuals, for vertical thermosyphon reboilers, it is sufficient that the height of the tube sheet be roughly equal to the liquid level at the bottom of the tower; the difference should not exceed 0.5 meters. I already have a tower, with a liquid level height of 9 meters, and the reboiler is 3.5 meters high. If I place the reboiler on the ground, the height difference will be even greater, and the performance should be better. My question is: is that true? Could there be any other problems? When the tube length (i.e., the heat exchange area) is adequate, reducing the height of the reboiler helps to increase the driving force of the heat cycle. It is not recommended to raise the height of the reboiler; in vertical thermosyphon reboilers, the upper tube sheet should not be above the liquid level in the reactor bottom.
