Reply 1# weinisnake: Large clumps of sludge are floating to the surface; these floating sludge pieces have a light rust-colored appearance, are odorless, and contain small bubbles. This is likely due to anaerobic denitrification of the sludge. Solution: Increase the reflux ratio, shorten the sludge age, increase the sludge load, and remove more sludge. This is just my personal opinion; please feel free to correct me.
Please, the original poster, explain the situation regarding the sludge. Try increasing the sludge discharge volume; different processes require different approaches.
Sludge floating occurs in sedimentation tanks. The usual approach is to observe the color of the floating sludge; if it is earthy in color, it indicates that the sedimenting bacteria are functioning normally. Low dissolved oxygen leads to anaerobic reactions by facultative bacteria, which produce gases that attach to the sludge, increasing its buoyancy and causing it to float. Increase the sludge handling capacity of the sedimentation tank, eliminate dead zones where sludge accumulates, and enhance aeration at the rear end of the oxidation tank. An upward shift in color and darkening of the water indicate the presence of toxic and harmful substances in the water, which cause the sediment to decay and deteriorate. This increases the workload of the sedimentation tanks; it is necessary to detect these toxic and harmful substances in order to address them specifically and reduce the processing load.

Analyze each case on its own to determine whether it is caused by an excessive sludge load or insufficient dissolved oxygen.
Shortening the sludge discharge interval and discharging sludge more frequently in the sedimentation tank should be able to solve the problem of excessive floating sludge in the tank!
