In what areas are plate heat exchangers generally used?
Plate heat exchangers are used in any place where heat exchange is required. It’s not possible to make their heat exchange area very large; their greatest advantage lies in their high efficiency in heat exchange and their small space requirement (compared to other heat exchangers)
It can’t handle too much pressure. If the distance between the plates is too small, it is prone to clogging.
As a supplementary note: Due to the relatively small flow channels between the plates in plate heat exchangers, there are certain requirements for the fluid used. It is preferable that the fluid be pure and not prone to scaling, etc., so as to avoid blockages
