For dried chlorine gas, what material is best for use in control valves – carbon steel, stainless steel 316L, those lined with PTFE, or something else? Which manufacturer is reliable: purely imported, joint venture, or domestic? Let’s discuss everyone’s usage experience # + + .
Those lined with PTFE are more reliable; our company uses domestic ones. There’s no need to pursue imported ones. The domestic production in this area is quite good.
If it’s confirmed that there’s no water inside, I remember that carbon steel will do; why go to such trouble?
Dry chlorine can be handled using carbon steel control valves, but fluorinated lining control valves are more reliable, as they are not affected by the presence of moisture
For drying chlorine gas, carbon steel should suffice; however, if cost is not a concern, it is better to use a lining made of PTFE. The quality of domestically produced control valves is quite good these days; they are sufficient for use in production processes, and their price is much lower than that of imported valves.
The pipelines for transporting dry chlorine are definitely made of carbon steel; therefore, it should be fine to use carbon steel for the control valves as well. If you’re not confident or if it’s required by regulations, it’s best to use valves with a PTFE lining
Carbon steel will work, but for the gas phase in the electrolyzer, it’s better to use imported materials
After drying, check the moisture content of chlorine; if it meets the standards, carbon steel will suffice. Of course, it’s better to use a higher-quality material if cost is not a concern
Any material will work; butterfly valves lined with PTFE are preferable.
Design institutes design components using PTFE; in theory, carbon steel can also be used, but there is a concern that the water removal efficiency may not be good enough, leading to corrosion
