A synthetic reaction is being tested; the reactants are liquid chlorine and deionized water, while the products or by-products include hydrochloric acid and hypochlorous acid in the liquid phase, as well as chlorine gas and hydrogen chloride in the gas phase. The reaction temperature is 150°C, and the reaction pressure is 2 Mpa. If it is to be produced industrially, what materials are needed to make the reaction vessel?
Glass-lined reaction vessels, or those made of Hastelloy these days
Reply to 2# zhhl216: Thank you for your suggestion. We have used Hastelloy in pilot tests, but it still suffered from corrosion. Especially at the gas-liquid interface. Can glass-lined steel withstand a pressure of 2 Mpa? I couldn’t find any relevant samples.
