Are there any existing coking plants that use the waste heat from gas to humidify the coal fed into the furnace? Is it top-mounted coke or compacted coke, and what are the actual operational results? Which one has better technology? How much investment is there roughly?
The coal humidification process is rarely used these days; I think I’ve heard of a process that uses the waste heat from gas to humidify the coal before it enters the furnace. As far as I understand, the coal humidification process is more likely to be used in top-loading furnaces. Can it be used in ramming coke ovens to form coal cakes? I hope experts can tell me; I want to learn too.
