The reprocessing ratio is defined as (reprocessed oil + reprocessed slurry) / amount of fresh feed, and can also be expressed as total conversion rate / one-pass conversion rate – 1. Note that the slurry in the molecule is connected back, not discharged outward. The purpose of reprocessing is to increase the yield of light oils. With a constant overall conversion rate, as the one-pass conversion rate decreases – meaning that the reaction is not as thorough – the diesel yield increases, and consequently the recycle ratio rises. Total conversion rate = (Gas + Gasoline + Coke) / Total feed. One-pass conversion rate = (Gas + Gasoline + Coke) / Fresh feed. The total feed includes fresh feed, reprocessed oil, and reprocessed oil slurry.
