HG/T20615-2009 specifies the flange designation as WN 100-600 M Sch80 16Mn. Is it necessary to include Sch80 here? Why is it included? Once the pressure rating of the flange is determined, the wall thickness of the pipe is also determined.
Here, S80 refers to the wall thickness of the pipe, which is the thickness of the pipe corresponding to the flange you need to select.

Sch80 indicates that it is used to determine the inner diameter B of the flange; it represents a requirement for the flange when purchasing it, and it is not related to determining the wall thickness of the pipes being connected. The markings on the flange specify the requirements for it. The actual situation is that once the wall thickness of the pipe is determined, the inner diameter of the flange is specified so that the thickness of the flange neck is not less than the wall thickness of the pipe.
It is highly necessary to write this down; we have encountered situations where, due to the lack of indication of the corresponding wall thickness for the flanges, the flanges purchased did not match the wall thickness of the pipes, and welding followed by flaw detection failed to pass.

SCH80 refers to the wall thickness of the pipe that corresponds to the flange, and since the pipe ultimately needs to be connected to the flange, if this isn’t made clear, it will definitely lead to misunderstandings on the part of the contractors, resulting in dimensional errors
