What do PSB, PSC, OS&Y, and CF8C+STL mean in terms of valve abbreviations? Could an expert go to the trouble of listing all the common English abbreviations for valves? Thank you in advance!
PSB: Pressure seal bonnet – a valve cover that provides self-sealing under pressure. PSC: Unknown. OS&Y: Outside screw and yoke – a valve cover connected by screws. CF8C+STL: Seals or pressure-bearing components made of CF8C, with the sealing surface made of STL alloy
PSC should stand for pressure seal cap/cover; it refers to a self-sealing cap/cover under pressure in any case

CF8C is the valve body material, belonging to the austenitic stainless steel series. The common ones are CF8---316, CF8M---316L. STL is indeed Stellite alloy, but it should not be used as a material for sealing surfaces, as it is expensive, hard, and difficult to machine. More precisely, the components subject to excessive flow should be surfaced with STL welding, in order to prevent erosion – such as valve balls (discs), sealing surfaces, and even the valve body itself.
CF8C+STL should be a material made of cast 304 with Stellite alloy welded on its surface
Reply to 2# vszxp OS&Y: \"outside screw and yoke\" bolt-connected valve cover – this doesn’t seem correct. OS&Y does indeed stand for outside screw and yoke, but it refers to a valve with a visible stem
BB refers to bolted bonnet, which is what is meant by a valve cover that is connected by bolts
