Is using metal hoses at hose stations a waste?

Ordinary rubber hoses don’t seem to be very pressure-resistant, but isn’t using metal hoses a waste? I’ve seen a manufacturer use them, but they’re too heavy, which makes them inconvenient to use; however, if weight isn’t a concern, they are quite good. Are there any other companies that use them?
