So much insulation material. Choosing insulation materials for chemical pipelines is confusing. Those who have experience in job hunting, please help explain the specific methods and process for making such choices. The more detailed, the better. I checked many standards, but I can’t tell
Our insulation materials are all made of magnesium aluminum silicate; rock wool is no longer used due to issues such as corrosion and contamination. The casing is usually made of galvanized iron sheet. However, for applications with severe corrosion (such as coastal areas, refineries that process high-sulfur crude oil, and facilities producing sulfuric acid), aluminum sheet is the preferred choice.
It depends on how you maintain the temperature – whether it’s to keep it cold or warm – as the insulation materials used vary accordingly
