The water resulting from electrodesalination generally has a high COD level, and sending it directly to the wastewater treatment system can cause certain stress on that system. We would like to recycle this water after treating it before sending it to wastewater treatment. Is it possible to use acidic water stripping for this purpose? The stripping unit does not consume COD. Acidic water stripping generally refers to the process in refineries of separating hydrogen sulfide from water containing it, through stripping. Stirring has little effect on COD. However, if the wastewater contains some volatile organic compounds, these will be removed along with the light components during the stripping process, thereby helping to reduce the COD level.
Important note: The water removed in the electrodialysis process does not pass through a stripping unit. Recently, the temperature of this water has been used to heat the gas used for combustion in the furnace
