Is nitrogen flushing used for protection during liquid extraction from the underground tank (the underground tank is equipped with a vent valve)?
The nitrogen on the breather valve should be set to a slight opening. Use your hand to feel the amount of air being released by the breathing valve in order to adjust it.
Personally, I think it’s necessary. Underground tanks are usually connected to underground methanol drain networks, and such drain systems are typically equipped with nitrogen purging systems; therefore, there is also nitrogen present in the underground tanks at all times. Additionally, methanol storage tanks have one or more vent valves, but they are still purged, flushed, and pressurized using nitrogen. The same principle applies to underground tanks as well!
