Does anyone among my friends know anything about the use of insulating rubber sheets in front of and behind switchgear? Or are there any standards that require the use of such insulating rubber sheets? Please advise, thank you
To date, no standard basis has been found; I’m very curious about this as well. For the project I’m working on now, insulating pads have not been installed, and it seems that such pads aren’t used at voltages below 110 KV. It seems to be a requirement imposed by power supply companies or similar entities; in some places, it is mandatory to install insulating pads.
Some are based on the safety regulations, that is, they are designed to prevent the busbars from coming into contact with the switchgear!
The standards in the power industry have not been raised at all; they’re quite vague.
From a safety perspective, it’s better to lay it down.
Look for Sinopec’s standards; you might find something useful.
