On-site installation method of thermometers2. Thermoresters with protective sleeves suffer from heat transfer and dissipation losses. To reduce measurement errors, thermocouples and thermoresters should have an adequate insertion depth:
(1) For thermoresters used to measure the temperature of the fluid at the center of a pipe, their measuring ends should generally be inserted into the center of the pipe, whether it is installed vertically or at an angle. If the diameter of the pipe containing the fluid is 200 millimeters, the insertion depth of the thermorester should be around 100 millimeters.
(2) For measuring the temperature of high-temperature, high-pressure, or fast-flowing fluids (such as main steam temperature), in order to minimize the resistance exerted by the protective sleeve on the fluid and prevent it from breaking under the influence of the fluid, it is possible to use a thermorester with a shallowly inserted protective sleeve, or a thermorester of the heat-shield type. For thermoresters with a shallowly inserted protective sleeve, the depth of insertion into the main steam pipe should be no less than 75 mm; the standard insertion depth for thermoresters of the heat-shield type is 100 mm.
(3) If it is necessary to measure the temperature of smoke in a flue, even if the diameter of the flue is 4 meters, an insertion depth of 1 meter for the thermorester is sufficient.
(4) When the insertion depth of the measuring element exceeds 1 meter, it is advisable to install it vertically as much as possible, or to use support frames and protective sleeves.
