For those just starting out with chemical DCS systems, which book is the best to choose? Or perhaps everyone ** can give some recommendations
First, understand the principles of chemical process control, that is, the principles of automatic control; having a foundation in digital and analog electronics is necessary. Then study materials related to DCS systems to grasp their structural principles. After that, it’s time to work on projects on your own in order to improve through practice.
Reply to 2# cwq84: The factory mainly uses Yokogawa DCS, but other types are also used. New factory projects are under construction; previously, instruments were used on-site, but now DCS is being utilized. There hasn’t been much practical experience in this area yet, so I want to build a foundation first by reading some books. I’d appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thank you!
Oh, since you work with field instruments, you must be familiar with basic control circuits, right? Understand basic control concepts and the principles of complex control loops (control theory is covered in basically every instrumentation textbook). There is also a lot of information available on Yokogawa’s CS3000; read it carefully. If you don’t understand something, ask questions. It’s best to install a DCS software on your own computer so that you can practice operations according to the textbooks, and then look at how other engineers configure the systems. If you’re still unsure, ask questions or search for answers online.
