It’s fine once the pipeline pressure test reaches the required level; it doesn’t matter which gaskets are used
In my opinion: 1. The core function of a gasket is to provide sealing; pipeline pressure testing is generally carried out at room temperature, and for low-pressure pipelines, there should be no major issues. 2. The original text of standard HG/T 20592(P230) states: “Generally, as the operating temperature of the gasket increases, the allowable operating pressure of the gasket decreases.” Therefore, gaskets should be used within the operating temperature and pressure ranges specified by the manufacturer. These specific operational scope details should be included in the purchase agreement. 3. For details, refer to Appendix A of HG/T20592 P229.
1. Pipeline pressure testing has requirements for gaskets. The gaskets selected should enable the required sealing load to be compatible with the strength of the flanges and their bolt connections. The material of the gaskets must be suitable for the properties of the fluid and the operating conditions. There are many factors that affect the sealing performance of gaskets, such as the thickness and width of the gasket, the strength and heat resistance of the gasket material, its pressure resistance, elasticity, as well as the compressing force applied to the gasket. For specific details, refer to GB50136-2008 Code for Design of Industrial Metal Piping or Design of Petrochemical Piping. 2. Therefore, unless the gasket made by LZ meets the above requirements, it cannot be used for pressure testing. 3. In my opinion, a pressure test is a testing procedure used to determine whether the entire system can withstand sufficient stress and whether there are any leaks; standardized gaskets are part of the system itself, and standardized gaskets should be used for such tests as well. It simply means that standardized gaskets can be replaced after being damaged during pressure testing, and then pressure testing can be carried out again until it passes; this also serves to determine whether the gaskets are of satisfactory quality. However, self-made gaskets cannot be used.
The gaskets used for pipeline pressure testing must comply with the requirements of GB50316 and HG/T 20592; there are specific specifications regarding the material of these gaskets, in order to prevent corrosion of the flanges due to the improper selection of gasket material.
