Why are plastic valves always used for treating exhaust gas with alkaline solutions? They’re not very effective. How about metal valves?

The medium is corrosive; ordinary metals are not resistant to corrosion. Additionally, alkali solutions may form crystals, which can impair the sealing performance of valves. It is advisable to use valves with carbon steel linings, fluoropolymer linings, or those that are entirely plastic.

Alkaline solutions are corrosive to metals; over time, valves made of such materials will start to leak. Alkaline solutions do not corrode plastics, so plastic valves will not experience leakage
Reply to 1# jindin312: We used plastic CPVC valves in the past, but they tended to crystallize and get stuck, and their handles were prone to breaking. Now some of them have been replaced with 316L valves, and the results are fairly good so far; it’s just that the price is too high!
